Colombo Boutique Hotel Overview

Located between leafy Park Street and the lakeside Buddhist shrine of Gangarama, The Residence is amongst one of the most unique boutique hotels in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s commercial capital. Built in the 19th century by a wealthy barrister, Sheikh Salehboy Moosajee, the halls and ballrooms of this grand Victorian townhouse once welcomed British governors, Indian maharajas, European nobility and the cream of colonial Ceylon society. Today, Residence is a unique 11-suite luxury hotel in Colombo. Despite its central Colombo location, the boutique hotel offers an atmosphere of secluded peace and quiet.

In true contemporary style, the rooms have been meticulously planned with extensive detail and utmost comfort in every inch. A delicate balance between old Sri Lanka and modern luxury is the running theme that ensures you experience the best of both worlds. Residence has on offer beautifully decked out accommodation options:

Park Suites: Lavish furnishings, florid rugs and distinctive décor are complemented by the spacious, en-suite bathroom and private outdoor courtyard available for some quiet moments alone. With a living room, a 42” television, mini bar and a tea/ coffee station (complete with an espresso machine), and more, our Park Suites are more than just a place to lay your head and utterly ravishing.

Residence Suite: If you feel like a little royal treatment on your holiday, then our regal Residence Suite is just what you need. With a setup that has imbibed the very roots of ancient Sri Lankan interior styling; the space is nothing short of stupendous. A 900sqft courtyard is the unmissable highlight, where you can take a private stroll much like the Kings and Queens of yore.

Regarded as one of the exclusive boutique hotels in Colombo, at The Residence the approach of traditional haute cuisine is happily blended to a contemporary aesthetic based on unusual ingredients and imaginative preparation and presentation. Well-stored wines from our large, knowledgeably-stocked cellar complement the parade of chef’s specials, à la carte treats and irresistible desserts. This restaurant in Colombo along with a 100-seat space, overlooking the swimming pool, is designed to allow seating indoors or al fresco, according to the weather and your mood.

If you fancy a pre-dinner cocktail, the barman at the adjacent Residence Bar will mix you the perfect aperitif. The bar is also a great place for a between-meals or late-night snack.

Aside from the main restaurant, the Residence also boasts two private function rooms, capable of accommodating dinner-parties of up to 6 and 14 respectively. These rooms can also be reconfigured for other functions, including business meetings and small receptions.

As you might expect, 24-hour room service is standard at The Residence. The staff will be happy to serve you anything from breakfast in bed up to and including a full five-course dinner.

Pamper yourself and indulge in luxuriant services that will truly elevate not only your Sri Lankan holiday, but also your body and mind at this luxury hotel in Colombo. Sometimes, that is all it takes to reset your senses. At the Residence, you can look forward to enjoying the following:
