Do you want to learn to surf? Riding the waves like a Pro? Or are you in need of a surfing refresher course? We got it all - in Arugam Bay on Sri Lanka's East Coast.
Arugam Bay is listed as one of the top ten surf points in the world and receives the same Antarctic winter swells that hit Indonesia 's southern shores in the middle of the year. The best time of the year for surf is between May and October when the predominant wind is offshore for at least the first half of the day. The average height of waves is 1.5 - 2.5 meters and the main surf spots are Potovil Point, Main Break, Crocodile Rock and Peanut Farm.

Our Sri Lanka (East Coast) surf camp can be booked from mid May - October. October to May is surf season on the South Coast, especially in Hikkaduwa, Ahangama, Weligama and Mirissa.

If you are a surfing beginner the lessons will focus on the basic surfing fundamentals. The personal training (no groups) will develop your skills in paddling and standing on the board. Once you got the hang of it you can practise your new skills at one of the intermediate surf spots. The surfing refresher course will take you through the techniques and maneuvers for big waves and small waves, shore breaks and reef beaks. Longboards and shortboards are both available.

Day 1 : Early afternoon check in at your designated surf camp and meet your personal surf trainer. After the introduction you will start your first lesson on the beach.
Depending on your skill level this will be on dry land (beginner) or one of the easier breaks (intermediate). At the end of the first session, enjoy the sunset and arrange with the trainer the time of your next lesson (morning or afternoon). You will have your 'own' surfboard for the full duration of your stay, giving you the opportunity to practise between the training sessions.

Day 2 : Morning or afternoon surf lesson. The rest of the day is free for practising, exploring or enjoying the beach.

Day 3 : Morning surf lesson. Check out from the surf camp 12.00 noon.
