SRI LANKA ECO TOUR (5D/4N) Details*

This is a Eco Holiday Tour on Sri Lanka's South Coast, with with main focus on environmental friendly tourism and fair trading by involving the rural population in their various projects.

SRI LANKA ECO TOUR (5 days /4 nights)

Day 1 : Arrival at Bandarnayka International Airport and transfer to Ambalangoda (2 h drive)
Free time to acclimatize and to relax after the flight.
Overnight at a selected 3* Beach Hotel on the South Coast.

Day 2 : Toddy Tapping
Toddy is a basic ingredient for popular Alcoholic drink “Arrack” it’s a natural drink extracted from palm trees like Coconut, Kithul. You can see Toddy tapers between Kosgoga to Bentota. Toddy taper cross from one tree to other on tied ropes close to cluster of frond of the coconut tree.
Wetland craft - Experience the Traditional Life styles of the Rural People
An excellent opportunity to understand how the Rural women producing ornamental handicraft such as ladies hand bags, marketing bags etc… from Rush & Reeds growing in marshy lands.
Sincere Rural women will teach you the centuries old indigenous techniques to you. With in a short period of time you understand traditional life styles of rural Sri Lanka.
Visiting one of the largest Buddha Statue 
The temple is located 08km (15 minutes drive) inland from Ambalangoda at the village of Karandeniya.You will be able to see one of largest Buddha Statue in the world,
108 ft long centuries old statute of Sleeping Buddha at the Sailatalarama Vihara Buddhist temple 
After climbing a small mountain surrounded by rich cinnamon plantations you'll be rewarded by the remarkable views overlooking Maduganga Lake.
Every Full Moon day Hundreds of hundreds Lake Side pilgrims wearing white dresses climb to the top of this mountain to worship lord Buddha.

Day 3 : Visit to Galle Dutch fort
Galle fort is one of the World Heritage sites in Sri Lanka declared by UNESCO. The Portuguese Lorenzo de Almeida drifted into Galle by accident in 1505. they ruled the coastal areas of Sri Lanka until the Dutch laid siege in 1640. the old Portuguese Fort on a promontory was strengthened by the Dutch who remained there until the British captured Galle in 1796. There were 11 bastions (gun points) 3 are facing the land, call as Sun, Moon and Star. Other bastions are facing sea therefore called as Sea bastions.
Folk Art Museum
“Martin Wickramasinghe Folk Art Museum” is the born place of respected Sinhalese author Mr. Martin Wickramasinghe. The exhibits are interesting to any foreign visitor to understand Sri Lankan traditional culture. It has information on both English & local language. A visitor can see attractive selection of costumes of traditional Sri Lankan dancers ,puppets, kolam masks, & large collection of Sri Lankan Indigenous tools & equipments used for house hold activities, Farming, Fishing & for traditional medicine & Transportation.
Moonstone
Meetiyagoda has a moonstone quarry. The semi-precious stone which often has a bluish milky tinge is polished and set in silver or gold jewellery. The road claims that it is the “only natural moon-stone quarry in the world”
Guided tour at the Nagenahiru Center
The newly build Nature Center that overlooks Madampa Lake Wild Life Sanctuary. Surrounded by thousands of thousand acres of constructed wetland with high bio diversity and provides Educational opportunities about this unique habitat. The wetland features elevated boardwalk through Mangroves featuring interpretive signs about the habitat. The Nature Center includes a lecture hall, brackish water Aquarium, Observation Tower and model of severely threaten wetland animals, extensive exhibition room that highlights wetland attributes. Come for a visit and find that there’s something for everyone at this fantastic new facility Nagenahiru Center for Environmental Education advances Environmental Awareness, Knowledge & Appreciation through hands-on experience in a natural outdoor classroom. The perfect place for learning, exploring, getting away and connecting. Relaxing & fun for the whole family.
Upstream the Madampa Lake.
Wonderful way to explore the real nature at Madampa Lake for yourself is to take a trip on the Traditional Catamaran/Boat through Mangrove Tunnels, Swamps and grasslands. A paddle amongst your tour begins with a brief paddling lesson and safety equipment orientation.
We assist and facilitate you to explore the mangroves looking for all types of wildlife available at this newly declared Wild Life Sanctuary Madampa Lake
(Monkeys, Bat Hosting sites, River otters, iguanas, lizards, Crabs, Crocodiles, Snakes, Birds, Butterflies & much more) The mangroves are a very amazing area to explore with their incredible root systems that grow above the water and spread out as if any walking. Find yourself in the shade of 80 foot mangrove trees that are a host to so much bio-diversity. The mangrove is an important area because it acts as a filter for water & it is where the land meets the ocean (making it home or the seasonal home of so many crabs, birds, lizards and many kinds of animals and insects).

Day 4 : Kanneliya Forest Reserve
Kanneliya is important that its a main tropical rain forest of Sri Lanka. Because of such forest Sri Lanka entered to the top 25 hotspot list. Kanneliya and Sinharaja is tropical montane rain forest of Sri Lanka and several species are hidden in there.

Day 5 : Transfer back to the airport or continue with one of our Sri Lanka Tours or Sri Lanka Holiday Packages. 

The Sri Lanka ECO Tour includes transportation by a/c limousine or Japanese Mini Van with driver / guide, accommodation in selected 3* Beach Hotels, excluding entry fees.
