With its 3000 years of history Sri Lanka has not only a high number of ancient UNESCO World Heritage Sites, but is also a treasure chest for lovers of colonial and modern architecture. Namely Geoffrey Bawa, Sri Lanka's celebrated architect, who stands for the tropical modernism style. Our special Sri Lanka Heritage Tour offers you all this and more...
Much more!
Selected 4* luxury hotels, including the world famous Kandalama Hotel designed by Geoffrey Bawa. The most amazing heritage sites like Dambulla, Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa, where the ancient palaces, temples and monasteries are carved and modeled directly out of the mountains. Not to mention Sri Lanka's cultural capital Kandy with the important Buddhist Temple of the Tooth, followed by the 'home' of the Ceylon Tea, Nuwara Eliya. A picturesque colonial city, surrounded by lush tea plantations, water falls and mountain ranges.
Heritage are also some of the iconic beach resorts Sri Lanka is known for and this is the reason we have included a landmark beach hotel in Bentota as last stop, before we bring you back to the airport or to your next destination.
Bentota is the most established beach resort in Sri Lanka and known for its wide beaches and watersport possibilities including swimming, water skiing on the rivers or lagoon, snorkelling, scuba diving, wind surfing, parasailing and deep sea fishing. The lagoon that separates Bentota from the Indian Ocean is fed by the Bentara Ganga, a river dotted with islets rich in birdlife.

SRI LANKA HERITAGE TOUR PACKAGE DETAILS  (7 days / 6 nights)

Day 1 : After meeting you at the the airport, we begin the journey to Dambulla, the first destination of this Sri Lanka Heritage Tour.
Depending on your arrival/pick-up time you might have the opportunity for a stop-over at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, where you can observe the feeding and bathing of an elephant herd.
Overnight at the famous Kandalama Hotel in Dambulla.
The Kandalama Hotel is one of the top luxury hotels in Sri Lanka. A hotel that doesn't sit on the landscape but is part of it. Where monkeys climb your balcony pillars as if they were trees, swifts nest in the corners of corridors as if they were cliffs, granite crags erupt into the sinuous white walkways. Where you can float in the infinity pool while gazing across at the Sigiriya Rock Fortress.

Day 2 : Early morning is the best time to visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress Sigiriya. The unique Sigiriya Rock was formed by hardened magma from an extinct volcano. The first impressing detail you will be the Lion Staircase leading to the former palace garden. Unfortunately only two lion paws and the masonry walls surrounding it are still in existence. The royal gardens are amongst the oldest landscaped gardens in the world.
The Sigiriya Mirror Wall was so well polished in ancient days that the king could see himself whilst he walked alongside it. The frescos of the heavenly maidens show Asparas, beautiful, supernatural female beings in the Indian mythology.
In the afternoon you have the choice to visit either Polonnaruwa or the the Minneriya National Park.
Polonnaruwa was Sri Lanka’s first capital city, dating back to 11th Century. Mostly known by the Disney documentary movie “Monkey Kingdom”. The film shows the life of toque-macaque monkeys around the ancient kingdom of Polonnaruwa.
At the Minneriya National Park you can see wild elephant herds throughout the year, but during the dry season (May to October) it is the largest meeting place of Asian Elephants in the world with herds up to 300 elephants.
Overnight at the famous Kandalama Hotel in Dambulla.

Day 3 : Before we proceed to Kandy, we finally visit the Golden Temple in Dambulla with its many cave temples. A sacred pilgrimage site for 22 centuries, this cave monastery is the largest, best-preserved cave-temple complex in Sri Lanka.
The Peradeniya Botanical Garden is one of the finest in Asia and was originally build for the Queen of Kandy. On over 60 hectares you'll find over 4,000 different plant including a Royal Palm avenue of and an extensive Orchid collection.
In the evening you can attend a cultural show by the famous Kandy Dancers (optional).
Overnight at the Earl’s Regency Hotel in Kandy.
This colonial hotel offers its very own view of flowing rivers, lush hills, and looming mountains. Spacious and stylish, the 134 rooms at the Earl’s Regency are uniquely designed to portray the city of Kandy – from the wooden floors to the furniture – each piece displays the local influence it was created in giving you a most unique holiday experience among Sri Lanka luxury resorts.

Day 4 : A full day in Kandy (ancient name Senkadagalapura) including a city tour and visits to the most important landmarks. Historians are still guessing if Kandy was named after a Brahmin named Senkanda who lived in a cave near the city, after a queen of King Wickramabahu named Senkanda or after a coloured stone named Senkadagala.
Kandy was the last capital of the ancient kings era of Sri Lanka and is home to the Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), one of the most sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world.
Overnight at the Earl’s Regency Hotel in Kandy.

Day 5 : On our way through the hill country to Nuwara Eliya, we are passing many tea plantations and scenic view points. Those who are interested, can observe the whole process of the 'making of original Ceylon Tea' from harvesting (plucking) to the testing of the final product.
Nuwara Eliya or City of Light is the tea capital of Sri Lanka at an altitude of 1889 m and is the most visited hill station of the island.
No wonder, since it means a break from the oppressive heat and humidity that surrounds the rest of Sri Lanka. The center of Nuwara Eliya is a modern, busy city with markets, department stores and fast food outlets but the outskirts are like a journey into the past.
In the afternoon we proceed down the hills to to Bentota on the South-West Coast.
Overnight at the Heritance Ahungalla Hotel in Bentota.
Heritance Ahungalla Hotel is luxurious beach front hotel that offers stylish 5-star accommodation with an infinity pool that merges with the waves of the ocean. You'll feel that you are in the sea – and the beach in between is just a figment of your imagination. A unique concept swimming pool by the master architect Geoffrey Bawa.

Day 6 : A day to relax on the beach or the infinity pool. Optional half-day excursions include sightseeing/shopping in Colombo, a river safari, a visit to a turtle hatchery or to the colonial Galle Fort. Just ask our driver/guide if you are interested.
